Heights 5K Fun Run

Well, I walked/jogged in my very first 5K last weekend and although I was dreading the early wake up on Saturday (5am), I actually had a lot of fun and was very proud of myself for following through with it! It makes me really want to get back in shape because it was somewhat difficult for me to do. I even left with some nice blisters on my feet.

My goal was to finish in 45 minutes (I planned on walking most of it), but in reality, especially since I did absolutely NO training for this event, I wanted to finish under in hour. And, well I broke about even between the two...I finished in 53 minutes. (Dont laugh, for all you in shape people, LOL!)

Anyway, I cant wait to do another and by then would like to have lost the remaining pregnancy weight, which should really help out on my time.

Braden's Checkup

Today was your 9 month check up and you are progressing wonderfully! Here are your current measurements at 9 months & 1 week old:

Weight: 21 lbs 5 1/2 oz - 61%

Height: 29 1/4" - 73%

Head Circum.: 18 cm - 61%

At 9 months old you are:

Crawling like crazy and you hit the power boast button when you know we are after you to get away from wherever you are on a mission to go, like the dog kennel, the round-studded coffee table, and the cable cord behind the television, are just some of your favorites.

You definitely have a Temper. I thought this started at two years old, but I was wrong and when you get mad you throw your head back while kicking and screaming. Its amazing at how smart you are already. You know what you want and when you want it.

Mama's, Dada's, Baba's are all in your vocabulary at this point. You also know the meaning of the words baby, light, and NO! You will look for the baby on the Gerber jar, or when asked where the light is you look up in any room to find it.

You love the Water, including bathtime and the pool! You like eating the bubbles in the tub, and sticking your face in the fountains at the neighborhood pool.

Your favorite Television Shows/Movies are Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Special Agent Oso, Handy Manny, Wonder Pets (which Daddy can NOT stand), and Baby Einstein's DVDs.

You clap your hands, dance, sing or yell your own little tunes, give kisses, wave hi (still working on this one, but getting better), blow bubbles, and make truck sounds with your lips.

You still have NO teeth, but it will be ANY time now. You show all the signs, and I can feel those little tooth buds right under the gums.

You are trying most of the foods that Daddy and I eat these days. You love fresh guacamole and beans from our favorite Mexican food restaurant, but you are still on a strict baby food diet as well.

You amaze us everyday with the silly things you manage to do and how your development increases dramatically with each day that passes.

Well, I could go on and on about all the little things that you do that I love, but you are whining for me to pick you up at the moment. Mommy rarely has time to update her blog while at home for this very reason, but its all so worth it.

Goodnight my sweet angel, I love you forever & always.

Memorial Day Weekend

Lots of Fun Stuff!!!

First and Foremost, I must congratulate my dear friend Amanda & husband Nathan, on the birth of their first baby, a daughter named Ashlynn Sierra York. She came into this world weighing 8 lbs 7 oz, and 21" long on May 28th, in Misawa, Japan where her husband is currently stationed. We ♥ you Manders!

Introducing...Miss Ashlynn

Next, Memorial Day Weekend...

We had a wonderful holiday, and hope you all did too! Braden had many first's this past weekend, including swimming, and the Zoo, which he had a BLAST with both!!!

Friday, we barbequed and just relaxed.

Saturday, we took Braden to the our neighbors house to let him swim with their kiddos for awhile! This was his first "baby pool/swimming experience" and he just loved it!!

Gizmo enjoyed playing outside also...

Then, on Sunday, we went to the Zoo with our neighbors and a few of James' cousins and mom! The kids had a great time! Braden enjoyed seeing all the neat animals! He didn't know what to think of the giraffes, fish, and baby elephant. It was a very hot day, but a good day had by all!

We ended Sunday, with a small BBQ at my brother's house next door, and called it a night. And, Monday we just hung around the house, ate lunch at a fun Mexican resturant in town, called Vida Loca, and went swimming at our neighborhood pool for a little bit.

'Til next time....

Sweet Kisses Hello

Our morning was a bit rambunctious today. The normal routine was array because we had to take Daddy and Uncle Kris to work, which is typically not the case. Daddy usually gets up first, makes his coffee, gets little man's bottle & breakfast ready, lets the dog out to do his business, and then wakes Braden up and feeds him his bottle, all while I take a shower and do my hair. Since I dont get to greet little man 1st thing, James will bring him into the bathroom where I'm getting ready and lets me say good morning before they sit down for his bottle.

Well, this morning, seeing that our time was cut short by 45 minutes, I skipped the shower and went straight to hair, makeup and packing Braden's bag for the day. James started his routine, but instead of waking up Braden, I did just to keep things moving right along.

As I walk into his room softly speaking "get up my little one" and turning on his lamp, and grabbing things for his bag, he slowly stands up in his crib to watch me fiddle around at what I am doing. I finally get done with what was needed and headed over to officially greet him. Smiling through his pacifier as I pick him up, he spits it out (which is something he's really gotten the hang of lately) and goes in for a opened-mouth, slobbery kiss! I was so surprised that by the time I realized what had happened, he'd already grabbed his passy and popped it back into his mouth. He's just now learning what the whole giving kisses thing is, and we normally have to request it several times before he does it on his own, therefore this totally caught me off guard.

He made my morning AND my day for that matter! It was like he was saying, "Hi Mama, I love you!"

My heart literally melted to the floor.
